Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, Thwane mayor, Kgosientso Ramokgopa and MEC, Panyaza Lesufi visited one of Mamelodi Secondary Schools, Ribane Laka on Wednesday.
According to the source they were there to motivate learners and congratulate the matriculants who passed with distinctions last year and gave them bursaries to further their studies.
“Do not be afraid to ask your teacher if you do not understand something, if you do not, you will be embarrassed when you get your results at the end of the year”, said Ramokgopa.
MEC said that all grade 11 learners at Ribane Laka and across the country will get tablet devices with data paid for.
He further stated that each learner will get an access to the internet until late hours for free but it should be for educational purposes.
Premier motivated the learners including teachers to keep on working hard and they would also get bursaries to further their studies, said the learner, Precious Molefe.
“I’m so inspired and willing to put more effort and reflect from my mistakes, so I’m ready and would ask question when needed”, said the learner.
“One does not have to come from a rich background to achieve good results, dedication and discipline will produce good results”, said the Premier.
Premier promised them that the school will also be renovated for the year 2017.
