Anglo-Amerian Donated R 10 000+ To Mamelodi Village Children
Anglo-American donated R 10 000 and other needs to the village children (SOS) yesterday for Mandela Day. About 60 children live in the village and more than 150 children visited the village. The needs include Winter Jackets, Sponsoring Boot camp for village children, School stationery, toiletries, Groceries, 1 big drum and 3 x small drums, Bedding for children, kits for soccer and netball teams, rain boots and rain coats, indigenous games sets, school bags, sponsoring Christmas party.
The needs were also mentioned on the village wishing list. Other organisation such as Universal church, discover the reality of education in all minds (DREAMS), RW Arttoneys, Guilternhuis Malatjie Attorneys, Council of Higher Education (CHE), GTAC (National Treasury), Distel Limited and Virgin Active, SANDF and NBA.
A team of 25 students from the University of Pretoria, Hartfield also came for the day to play with the children. They donated a washing machine, food, toys and sanitary towels to the village. “We came to engage with the community around us and taking advantage for Mandela Day”, said Kevin Lubembe, on of the students. According to these organisations, they were given a wishing list to all the village and children’s needs and they donated according to what they have been given. “We have been given the wishing list and is for all 60 children from the village we also provided food catering including breakfast, lunch and cake. Is in response to Nelson Mandela Day but also respond to corporate responsibilities to do so”, said Pauline Choshane, Anglo-American spokesperson.
Different organisations participate every year at the village. More will be expected next year.
