Marchers handed over a memorandum to Mamelodi West police this afternoon after the family of a missing girl, Katlego Joja said the police didn’t make an effort to search after they reported their missing child.
Residents took initiative to march to A5 police station and submit their memorandum of demands for “Justice” and participate at the memorial service of Katlego at her home.
The memorandum says the case must be prioritized and speedy investigations must be carried out with outmost diligence, police officers who turned the family back without assisting them must be fired with an immediate effect, urgent feedback is expected on previous cases of this nature, South African Police Services in Mamelodi should provide support, establishment and prevention to what happened to Katlego, Zinhle Ndala and others in Mamelodi and always monitor Moretele River.
The police spokesperson, Captain Johannes Maheso could not be reached for comment. The funeral is expected to take place tomorrow.
