Sonto Makhafula, Gatang LRC President encourages students to stay at school and study. This happens after the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) National Shutdown takes place. Makhafula as a student, she’s concerned that the school never received 100% pass rate and feels that they as students should fight for 100% pass rate at the end of the year. She reported live to SABC News this morning. Teachers are not yet reached for comment. COSATU says it has resorted to Wednesday’s nationwide strike against job losses because government has been refusing to sign the minimum service delivery agreement. This lead to student being stranded as teachers are going to join the march and leaving schools early. Other schools in Mamelodi are also expected to cut school short.
