Minister of Police, Bheki Cele declared that he need 3 weeks to deal with Mamelodi’s Number 1 Tsotsi. This happens after Minister Cele and General Leutenant Mawela engaged with the community of Mamelodi East on issues of safety and security yesterday at International Assemblies of God Church.
“It’s time we show him who the real boss is. We are not going to be ruled by gangsters here. If needs be we will die in Mamelodi,” said Cele.
The Minister said they would establish a permanent special police unit in Mamelodi if needed to deal with the alleged criminal. The unit is expected to start an operation in Mamelodi. “His senders must go tell him that I said so. We are not going to be run by a thug. We want no blood, but if needs be, then let it,” said Cele.
The alleged criminal is said to be terrorising the community. one of the resident raised an issue that he is extorting businesses in the community, monopolizing drugs sales, ruling taxis owners and collecting R 200 form them. It was also claimed that shop owners pay between R250 and R600 a month for “protecting fee”.
Mr Cele issued an instruction to the police saying that they should make sure the allegedly criminal doesn’t die. Most of the residents who were there to speak for themselves fear that they were digging their own graves. Rumor in Mamelodi says anyone speaking about or against him will normally be taken care of violently by the allegedly criminal gang or people who work for him. Premier David Makhura also promised to deal with the man a week ago.
