Twenty six suspects have been arrested around Tshwane East Cluster over a period of 24 hours in various police operations. According to the statement given by the police, the police are set to intensify these actions heading to the upcoming holidays as more criminals are more likely to target the public during that period. The South African Police Service (SAPS) urged the public to comply and cooperate with the rule of law. “Largely, Monday is the day on which many of these suspects start appearing in court for crimes they have committed over the weekend”, said the police spokesperson, Captain Michael Mbewe. He added that these crimes include, murder, rape, house-breaking, attempted theft, malicious damage to property, drinking and driving, shoplifting, violation of protection order, selling liquor without license, assault and dealing with drugs.
